Netball

The home of netball in Dunedin...

The Edgar Centre caters for all levels of ability and experience, ranging from pre-school fun activities through to international matches.

We are a home venue for the Southern Steel and we run two social competitions throughout the year.

Practices and Casual Use

Many netball teams practice regularly here at the Edgar Centre and we also welcome players wanting a bit of court time to fine tune their skills.

Social Netball Competitions

The Edgar Centre offers two types of social netball competition. One is for all-female teams (on a Wednesday night) and the other is for mixed teams (on a Thursday night). There are four competitions over the year that run in 10 week blocks. Games last for 40 minutes and teams play at 6.15pm, 7.00pm, 7.45pm or 8.30pm, so you must be available to play at all game times. These popular competitions are designed to be both competitive, social, and most importantly, enjoyable.

Your team needs to register in advance. Once notified you have been given a spot, you will be sent regular information on the draw, points tables, and general notes.

We always welcome new teams to keep the competitive and social aspects fresh. So why not get a team together? We welcome several workplace teams and operate a grading system to ensure the teams are matched as evenly as possible. A great way to keep fit and active in a friendly sporting environment!

A team registration fee of $160.00 needs to be paid at the start of the competition. Individual team players pay the normal Edgar Centre adult entry fee of $5.00 each night, or $2.50 if they are a school student. Bibs are available on court if your team doesn't have them.

The next rounds of social netball starts on Wednesday 22 July (female) and Thursday 23 July  (mixed) and will run for 10 weeks. Registrations are open now for both competitions and closes Friday 10 July for both competitions.

Don't have a team but looking to join one or fill in occasionally?  We have two great Facebook groups which are open to anyone to join;
