Police Fitness Testing
18th July 2018

The New Zealand Police have been using the Edgar Centre for years to do their Physical Competency Test (PCT). It is a 400m obstacle course including a balance beam, 6ft wall climb, window climb and 74kg dummy drag amongst other obstacles. The test is performed by Police Officers every two years and is also a requirement for recruits looking to join the Police.
The Edgar Centre is the perfect facility for the PCT as it is an all-weather venue, allowing us to continue testing all year round.
A few Police Officers travel from some distance away preferring to do their tests at the Edgar Centre.
If you would like to see a video of the test check out www.newcops.co.nz/recruitment-process/health-fitness

This description has understandably caused some public concern about the Centre and whether it is safe to use in its current state. In short, yes it is safe. Under normal, day to day conditions the Edgar Centre is as safe now as it has always been.
